DESCRIPTION:Join Literacy Connexus for our Coffee Hour. Learn more about our two topics of the month: \nReady for School! \nFor eight years Karen Morrow and a team of others have collaborated with churches in Fort Worth to prepare children of refugees for school. Following state readiness standards\, they have developed a curriculum and resources that will assist adult ESL students who are parents in helping their children become ready for school. In this 30 minute session\, aren will describe Ready for School and respond to your questions about this family literacy project. \nWhat’s for Lunch? \nAcross the Lone Star State 200\,000 children get their best meal of the day – June – August – at a summer meals site. The meals are provided in schools\, churches\, public housing authorities\, libraries\, and other settings. What’s for Lunch? provides access to books for these children. Children who read six books during the summer avoid the summer reading slide. Lester Meriwether will describe how your church ESL ministry can partner with summer meal sites in your community to bless children. And\, no cooking is involved! \nSign up using the link below.
