We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization sharing God’s love through literacy ministry across Texas.
Training Faith-Based ESL Teachers
Helping churches by preparing volunteers to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) classes in a church-based setting.
Giving Kids Access to Books
Helping churches by providing access to books for children participating in summer meals programs.
Preparing Refugees for School
Helping churches by establishing Ready for School! programs, a 20-week curriculum where volunteers help refugee children prepare for school.
From the Panhandle to Palacios and from East Texas to El Paso, Texas churches have taken seriously the mandate to welcome the stranger. Volunteers have provided instruction in English for refugees in many settings, but ministry has not stopped at the end of class. Caring volunteers have helped refugee families find jobs, furnish apartments and provide for the educational needs of their children. Let’s get ready!
The Literacy ConneXus blog is regularly updated with teaching tips for working with English Learners. Our ESL Associate Taynim Johnson is a regular contibutor, and our TEX Trainers also write guest posts on occasion. Check out the latest posts and subscribe today!
Literacy ConneXus regularly holds ESL teacher training sessions around the state. To register for an upcoming training, check out our events page.
Our ministries are sustained through generous donations from individuals and churches who value faith-based literacy initiatives. A donation of $25 can enable a volunteer ESL teacher to attend a training. Click here to donate today!
