Here I am walking for a Cure for Cancer. We do this every October with some of our international students. As a team we enjoy walking together for this great cause. This brought to mind how Literacy Connexus desires to walk alongside you to reach our students. We have heard from some you who have been sharing how they are keeping contact with their students.
We are praising God for a recent grant that Literacy ConneXus received from The Dollar General Literacy Foundation in the amount of $6,000. These funds will be used to research resources and identify best practices to help ESL students lacking literacy in their first language. Please share your experience here with students in this category.
As the country slowly opens everyone is waiting to see if the virus will spread. Literacy Texas is holding their annual conference online. We urge you to participate.
Regional literacy organizations throughout the state will offer one-day literacy symposiums. These symposiums provide free professional development for volunteers and staff of nonprofit, community-based, and faith-based organizations.
