Happy Monday Everyone! Today I am a little late with our blog post because I had a serious case of the Mondays this morning. I thought I scheduled this post to come out and grace your screens at 9:30 like a responsible blogger, and I did. Unfortunately groggy morning me chose 9:30PM instead of AM and found myself in a post chicken sandwich panic when I realized what I had done.

Alas, it’s better late than never! Today, I want to take a little time to thank an immigrant for what has been my holy grail for the last year, Zoom!

Did you know we have an immigrant to thank for Zoom?! Yep! Zoom was founded by an immigrant from China, Eric Yuan. After being denied a work visa 8 times, Eric Yuan moved to California in 1997. He wasn’t fluent in English at the time but he was fluent in computer coding! And thank the stars he was!

Just about everyone who wasn’t an essential worker had to rely on Zoom at some point last year. Restricted to our homes in the face of the pandemic, many of us turned to Zoom to connect with our friends, family, and continue our work.

I participated in Zoom meetings, birthday parties, book clubs, family get togethers, game nights, movie nights, weddings, and taught all of my classes on Zoom last year, and for that I have Eric Yuan to thank.

So if you like Zoom too, you can thank an immigrant!

Until next time blog family, and as always, blessings and happy teaching!
